First Expert Mission in the Field of Protection and Restoration

The first expert mission in the field of protection and restoration of cultural heritage was realized with the arrival of Ms. Claire Betelu, professor and director of the study program for conservation and restoration of cultural heritage at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon Sorbonne. This expert mission as an initiative of professional training of expert staff from national institutions in the sphere of conservation of cultural heritage was approved by the European Commission and implemented through the TAIEX instrument, in cooperation with the European Commission delegation, the Secretariat for European Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the French Cultural Centre, the National Conservation Centre and the Conservation Centre Skopje. According to the Agenda, the expert mission was realized from 07.11.2023 (Tuesday) to 09.11.2023 (Thursday) and was led by Prof. Claire Betelu from the University of Sorbonne, where colleagues from national institutions dealing with cultural heritage had the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest practices and knowledge at several characteristic cultural monuments, such as the churches "Assumption of the Blessed Virgin" in Leshok and Matka, as well as the church "St. Salvation" in Skopje. Working meetings were also held at NI Conservation Centre Skopje, the National Conservation Centre and the French Cultural Centre. Coordinators of this event were Vlado Mukovski, advisor conservator for wall painting from the National Conservation Centre and Angelina Spirovska Mukovska, licensed conservator for wall painting from NI Conservation Centre Skopje.
