Cultural Heritage Church "St. George" Village of Gradovci

A professional team from NI Conservation Centre - Skopje made an inspection of the condition of the monumental cultural property, the church "Saint George" in the village of Gradovci, Municipality of Zelenikovo, which based on the construction, technique and manner of painting of the fresco paintings can certainly be determined to originate from the medieval period, i.e., from the 13th or 14th century. The church was renovated in the 19th century. Based on the appearance of the construction from the external side of the walls and the different techniques, it is evident that in the past the church had domes, a specificity of the construction of monastery churches from the 18th and 19th century. The fresco paintings in the interior of the church reach up to the roof structure and are interrupted in the lower and middle part of the bodies of the saints, which further testifies that the church is missing its domes. Around the church there are graves and based on the preservation of the stone crosses on some of the graves, it is known that these are Christian cemeteries.
